Back from Hong Kong
I'm back from Hong Kong. Man! What a rush! (literally)
Thought HK was good for shopping. Was wrong. Didn't buy a thing.
Went to shenzhen and got a haircut. Now I look beautiful. The service was incredible!
The shampoo boys really knew how to work your head. The massage they gave was so good, I nearly fell asleep! The standard of work there is better than any salon I've every been to right here at home.
The street-side Lo Mai Kai (food) was the ultimate! Words cannot begin to describe the delectable delight I gobbled down in Shenzhen. Wow!
Anyway, saw Tianye up the bus to the airport and I caught the KCR all the way to Guangzhou. (Yes all by myself, because I'm a big boy now.)
Checked myself into a really grundge motel for S$20. Stayed in the Sha Mian area. Lots of souvenir shops and artsy stuff to look at. Agnes would have loved it. I'll drag her along next time.
Loved the antique stalls in the nearby shopping area. Bought a few antique opium pipes.
(In case you are wondering, no I won't be smoking anything)
Walked... and walked....and walked....... for 2 whole days. Temperature 10 - 17 degrees Celsius.
Lost 2kg. (Great way to lose weight ladies and gents!)
Anyway glad to be back. Got to get back to reality and start to get on with stuff I need to do.

Pondering...
Easter is coming...
I'm developing a series on Jesus - partially digested 'meat' for the insatiable youth in the church. Can't seem to find any good handles on the subject.
Been horrendously bugged by the tension between the historical Jesus and my theological perception (an inevitable result of a church-going tradition) of him.
The prennial question "Who is Jesus?" has fueled violent polemics from both ends of the spectrum of study. Some historians on one end hurl stink bombs at theologians who shy away from rooting their beliefs in historical facts; theologians at the other end accuse historians of infidelity to a Christian worldview and half-breeds like me are caught in the cross-fire with barbed-wire fences all round, trying to create sermons that can education and entertain hormone-driven teenage boys and 'Seventeen' devotees of teenage girls.
God help us all!!

Reflection
There is so little time for it in this pragmatic and fast-paced city we live in. Yet I find it, along with prayer and meditation, one of the most refreshing activties (some would say non-activities) a person could ever indulge in.
There is a plethora of spheres of life within which one can engage in this lost art - family, community, the larger society, work, play, beliefs, personal development, love relationships, life-direction, the day's activities, news, movies, books, they are endless.
Where do we find the time for it?
What place can we run to to hide from the demands of everyday living?
In the quiet of a room? In the dead of the night? In a faraway place? In a cave inLascaux?

Today I taught 4H to set up their blog
It was such a hot day. Thankfully we could enjoy the cool aircon in the computer lab.
Some pupils were very fast in creating their blogs but others were very slow. I was falling asleep.
I wished they were more independent so that nobody would bother me and I could sleep in peace.

What happened during Chinese New Year
On the first day of the chinese new year, my relatives all came to my house including all my uncles and aunties. They broke all chinese new year tradition in doing so. You're not supposed to go to your nephew's house but everyone did!!
